This blog is designed to help you better understand the research behind technical writing. While technical writing is a very important and vigorous process, the research behind this form of writing is very important.
The first step to researching technical writing is knowing first and foremost what you are writing about. If you don't know or understand what you are writing about, how can you begin to research it?
Second, you need to understand the search engines that are at your disposal to help you with your research. You have the ability to use Google, MSN, Yahoo, and all other search engines, so use them!
Next you need to understand what sites are credible and which ones are not. If you evaluate the site and the information seems kind of "tacky" then you probably shouldn't use that site.
You also need to know how to site your sources properly. Without siting your sources properly, you can get slapped with plagiarism, and that can end up in a very hefty fine.
